Dear (a) Colleague,

For 2012, we are rewarding works of systematic review (meta-analysis), trying to focus on items that formed the foundation concepts and universal knowledge. The works must necessarily be published in issues 1-4 of volume 16, year 2012. Rules for submission of articles in the journal International Archives of Otorhinolaryngology are available in full, in Portuguese and English versions in print and online by the journal (www.arquivosdeorl.org.br).

• Systematic Review (Meta-Analysis) – A metaanalysis is a statistical method applied to the systematic review that incorporates the results of two or more primary studies (studies of accuracy, randomized clinical trials, cohort studies). Systematic review is a type of high school that helps us in developing clinical guidelines and is extremely useful for managers in health care decision making, both the public and private. In addition, systematic reviews also contribute to the planning and development of clinical research. Systematic reviews bring together - in an organized, large amount of clinical research results and help in explaining the differences between primary studies that investigate the same issue.

May compete authors and coauthors from any area of health sciences, and accepted papers published in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian and French. The trial of the published work will be done after the edition number 4 of volume 16, the result being officially communicated to the winners and published on the website of FORL (www.forl.org.br) and the magazine, besides being published in Volume 17 Journal of International Archives of Otorhinolaryngology. The jury will be coordinated by the chief editor of the magazine and in components of the editorial and the representations of Otorhinolaryngology Foundation. Entries will be judged by the scientific merits, including originality, consistency, significance and impact.

All authors and co-authors will receive award certificates obtained by alluding to their work. It will also be for the amount of R$2,000.00 for the first author of each of three selected works.
